Am hoping someone will have the answer to this problem my mum is having with here TV/DVD combo.
It worked fine for ages and now when she puts a DVD into the DVD section it whirls for a while then the message not valid disc comes up.
I assumed it was a problem with the disc she was using as it was a DVD-RW disc so I asked her to put a proper DVD in and the same message came up. I got her to check the region of the disc and it was a freebie from the newspaper so again assume it is made for UK players.
Can anyone help me and let me know what to do next. She has tried a DVD cleaner and also used a cotton bud and blown down the slot. The old fashioned IT way!!!!

Try a couple more new/ish pre recorded cds or dvds but it sounds like a laser fault - dead laser probably
As you would expect - uneconomical to repair, but you never know!Nudge nudge, Wink wink, Say No More!0 -
Shes been trying a fair few discs and getting no joy, I think the laser fault sounds more likely. So sounds like she'll be going to the shop to buy a new one!!!!0

The DVD players used in these sets are very cheap and nasty and these sorts of faults are unfortunately very common. The complete player unit must be replaced as no individual parts are available and cost will make it uneconomic.0
