    No, Adsense don't allow it.

    Encouraging Clicks

Publishers may not ask others to click their ads or use deceptive implementation methods to obtain clicks. This includes, but is not limited to, offering compensation to users for viewing ads or performing searches, promising to raise money for third parties for such behaviour or placing images next to individual ads.

I've just been doing some research and I am sure the users of my information would be ad blind and there is nothing that I could affiliate to, except for charging for part of the information (which I'm considering) is there any other way to make money that anyone can suggest, I really need a platform that pays me just for having a high amount of views several times a week - wishful thinking maybe?

but does seem to rely on people clicking ads again, I'm not sure people viewing the info I put up would bother to do that, they are not looking to buy anything just to get the information.

I very, very rarely "click" on ads, and if I do it's not to buy but just to have a look. I always close the ads on YouTube and ignore any which precede a video.

PS don't tell the advertisers this, or they'll stop funding all the excellent free sites. And no, I don't feel guilty in ignoring their ads.

Yep, same here and for most others I've asked.

  • Could you do it as an ebook for sale (convert a file into a PDF and away you go) or would that be too tricky with updating it?

Also, in terms of making money, depending on the subject matter you could try using affilliate advertising on a blog site you set up?

On content sites, affiliates sometimes can offer discount codes if you follow a certain link - I can vouch for the fact that people do click these sometimes.

I dont think either of those would work, the info needs updating at least 2 or 3 times a week and there is nothing that affiliates with the info, thanks though, anymore suggestions anyone?

There are some companies that will advertise through your twitter feed, so you could put the data out on twitter (updating every few days or as needed) and put in some ads as well. Not sure if Twitter is really a suitable medium, as you're limited to 140 characters, but you could always link to a website where you put the new data (and people would follow the twitter to learn of new updates).

    There's some data here: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/can_you_get_paid_to_tweet_part_1.php

Nothing to stop you doing this as well as a web approach (as the twitter could link to the web)...

Yes I was thinking about Twitter, not sure what I was thinking but it was in my mind, I used to have a twitter account and loved it I used it all the time but it kept being hacked so I gave up, I'll have a read of that link a bit later - thanks:)

The thing about Adsense is, unless you have massive traffic, you'll not get the volume of clicks you'll need to make a decent amount.

What about a donations system? Then you can ask for clicks and you won't be infringing anyone's terms and conditions. On my forum, when a donation is made, I add the user to a special usergroup and all advertising is then disabled for them and also they inherit the highest user priveledges for the donation period (1 month).

    Just a thought. ;)
