....I've just tried the ns&i calculator (for index linked bonds) which is dated today (15/11/2011) and the figures show the same as last month.......

Might be down to the amount held. RPI for September is 237.9, for October it is 238.0. So the difference from the RPI relevant for the month of purchase to now is just 0.1 increase from last month.Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.

I'd noticed this and downloaded spreadsheet calculator, this shows a slight increase in value and appears to be correct0

...thanks for the reply ark welder....I've just look at the figures for twelve months back for September which is 237.9/225.8 =1.053587 and October which is 238.0/226.8=1.04938 which rounded to two decimal placed is 1.05 for both months....0

It's our monthly cockup from NS&I. These guys just can't get it right.
The reason the figures are the same is that they are the same. The spreadsheet calculator still shows the date of 18 October and hasn't been updated. The online calculator shows the date of 15 November but is looks as though it's using the same data, it's the same to the penny.0 -
...yes twokcc the spreadsheet calculator is slightly higher whilst the other calculator is the same so I assumed the later is rounded to two decimal places......ed0

Even closer than that: 1.05403. The denominator for the October calculation should be the same as in the first calculation, i.e. 238.0/225.8 (assumes that the certificates were bought in October last year).Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.

The chimps have come up with a new one this month. The spreadsheet has now been updated, and shows a small (but nice) increase over last month.
The online calculator (which was first to show the date of 15 Nov) still hasn't changed and shows the October figures.

This morning, as what would be an amusing update if only they weren't supposed to be looking after my money, the spreadsheet calculator has reverted to last month's (ie old date, old data).
Oh dear :-(0 -
Latest exciting update:-
The online calculator now shows updated figures - presumably the correct ones. But the spreadsheet is still the old one, with the Oct date and data.

Since RPI rose 0.04% between September and October I shouldn't be too excited to check the updated figures!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0
