Is unusual for a claim to be upheld so quickly?

I sent off a claim for a refund of PPI to Santander on Saturday (12/11/11) first class. This refers to a loan I took out in 2004, which is now fully repaid.
I have just had a phone call from them (3 days after me posting the claim!) saying that they are upholding my claim.
They have offered me back all the PPI that I have payed over the term of my loan and 8% interest in addition. They are sending out a letter to confirm this.
As I was expecting them to take weeks or even months to reply to me, I am wondering if this was too good to be true?
Has anyone else had a claim dealt with so quickly before?
Thanks for any replies!

Exactly the same for me, mine went in first class post on Friday morning, they called me yesterday afternoon, saying exactly the same thing. Very impressed, although am guessing it will still take awhile before they pay out, but I'm happy with that.
Not hoping for the same response from LloydsTBS and will be tackling First Plus tomorrow!0 -
There have been quite a lot of posts on here over the past few months about Santander working so quickly, all I can say is it must be true if so many people are reporting the same thing, either that or they are all at it. The only way you'll know is when you receive the money in your account or a cheque, and with some of the posts, they received their payments quite quickly, well done and congratulations.
Oh and welcome to the Forums! Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

It is correct gejoolav, Santander seem to have their act together, they contact people very quickly indeed and pay out just as quick. Wish I was dealing with them instead of Lloyds

Thanks for your replies.
Well I've now got my fingers crossed for a payment by Xmas!
That would certainly ease some financial pressure at the mo.
The advice on this forum made me decide to not throw away money by using a reclaim company :j so thank you to all!0 -
Hi there, can I ask if there is a number to contact Santander regarding this? I sent my claim in July and the only thing that has happened is that the ppi payment has been stopped on my Evans card. Is there any way of ringing them and finding out whats happened to my claim? You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0

I emailed a complaint on the 10th regarding Santander PPI got a letter rejecting my claim as they 'can't find any evidence of mis-selling' on the 12th! have just pinged an email to them asking for proof that it was sold correctly, hoping for a fast closure on this oneMBNA Upheld £20,663.63 2/11/11, cheque recieved 25/11/11 :j
Capital One Upheld 11/11/11 £2793.21 cheque recieved 2/12/11 :j
Santander rejected by them 11/11/11, counter rejected by me 17/11/11. x2 letters advising they need another 4 weeks and then another rejection:rotfl:0 -
Santander has just sent me a letter rejecting my claim for a refund of PPI which relates to a loan a took out in February 2008 with Alliance and Leicester. I am surprised by this as I had a phone call from them on 20 December 2011 saying that they were upholding my claim.
I have just spoken to them and they claim that the phone call on 20 December 2011 was not an offer and that they were just checking whether I would accept the standard terms of full reimbursement plus 8% if the claim was upheld. I'm feeling a but stupid now as I'm sure the guy on the phone told me the claim was being upheld.
Anyone else had a similar experience?
