Hi Cleggie thanks for posting :D

The race for life is for cancer research. I have raised over £50 so far and im doing it in memory of my Granddad who passed last august.

Well the whole studying thing didn't happen today. Just as i went to get started OH came home with loads of rubble.
So ended up spending the day sorting the Garden out. Using rubble in fill in a soon to be path, general tidying, tip runs, cutting the hedge back and cleaning all the garden furniture.
Not a NSD :( though as OH bought some stuff from t*sco £21.84  though should get £9 of that back from MIL as part of it was for her, and he spent £5.98 in B&Q on a roll of weed suppressant for the path.
    Very busy day.

Gonna chill out tonight and im in work tomorrow, however only in for 2 days this week :j Thursday is gonna be a study day as one monster (DS2) is in nursery and the other monster (DS1) is away with MIL and OH will be in work. :j

    Morning Charlyze
What are you studying? I am just about to finish my degree in psychology. Just have 6 exams left to do and then i have done! I am starting my exam revision today too. Not so much 'revision' as 'learning'!
  • just wanted to pop by and say well done, I really wish I could be as organised as you are with the spreadsheets etc!

Just wanted to ask are you using online accounts for the different money, or jars?

I'm trying but its really hard work to get started.
Also congrats on the new job to oh
Still here..... but working on that!

    Hello Littleskintdragon
I dont always feel very organised.
i use online accounts for things like car savings and birthday money etc but for monthly spend budgets i use money bags :rotfl:

Cleggie - luckily i can take anywhere up to 10 years to complete them, though im aiming to do them a lot quicker than that.
plan is two this year (one june and on december)
then 4 next year with two in june and two in december  That will complete skills module.
then do the next 5 exams over 2 years as they are harder.

As im doing it via a home study course i don't have to worry about going to college, and work are paying for it so that's another bonus :D

Some good news and some bad news from me
good news first - Car went in for its MOT. I was expecting a £200 bill, however even though it failed it only failed on a wiper blade :rotfl:
so MOT and wiper blade came to £65.64 a lot better than expected

Bad news - We ended up ordering an Indian monday night
was really tired and hadn't got anything out of the freezer in the morning. that ruined my NSD, my not having take out this month and also my eat healthy challenge

Anyway on positive note. no more work until Tuesday :j
just DS1 at home today, OH is in work and DS2 in nursery, and tomorrow i will be all alone as DS1 is going away with MIL :j

Shooting off now to get some studying done

    Bye

Well i have been a bit lax with updating my diary :(
I have been on MSE nearly everyday reading other peoples diraies but never get round to updating mine.

April didnt go so well :( MIL took DS1 away for the week, however i took DS2 up to the caravan also and was there for 3 days. Took the kids to Folly Farm and dinosaur park. Spent quite a bit of money :o
inc fuel to get there and back and entries to both parks and gifts it was about £120.00. It could have been worse though as we always took a picnic and didn't eat out anywhere in the evening.

April is now done and in the past. It now time to look to next month.
    Quite a lot on. DS1 9th Birthday.
Party (rock climbing) for him and 6 friends £70
pressie (his own climbing harness) £35
    Party food £20
    Cake - free (MIL)
Mini bus to take us all there (45 mile round trip) £90 (MIL will pay half though)
    so £170.00
    all budgeted for

There is also our wedding anniversary (married 5 years, together for 13 years) £40 on meal
DS1 and OH are going to see Bear Grylls in Cardiff so will take £40 for food and spends
and DS2 and i are going to Sandyballs with MIL for weekend (free) but will take £20 spends

    May budgets
Fuel ~ £196.00 (for car and bike)
    Food ~ £180.00
    Spends ~ £100.00
    Party ~ £170.00
Hobbies ~ £46.00 (DS1 Tae kwon do and rock climbing)

    Challenges
    NSD ~ aiming for 15 with 4 in a row :D

    Long term money plans

OH barclaycard had a balance of £7k on it @ 15.9%
Managed to get a creation 0% for 17 months and transferred over £5k. Leaves £2k on B/Card. I have reduced the limit to £4k now.

as at 30.04.12 debts now stand at
Student Loan ~ £163 (approx) left. Will pay this 1st June
Argos ~ £273.57 (BNPL due June) budgeted to pay in full in June
Very OH ~ £399 (BNPL due Aug) will pay all in Aug (168 int added if i dont )
Very Me ~ £189 (BNPL due Oct) will pay in Oct (78 int if not paid)
Overdraft ~ will be £630 approx at end of May. will be cleared by Sep
B/Card OH ~ £2k 15.9% after O/D is gone every spare penny thrown at this. Cleared by Dec 12
    B/Card me ~ £2292 0% until April 13
    Creation me ~ £1744 0% until Sep 13
    Creation OH ~ £5145 0% until nov 13

Plan is that when B/Card OH is cleared i will continue making min payments to 0% credit cards and surplas funds will go into savings account to pay for the c/c when the o% deal runs out. Savings will start in Dec.
    will need
    £1192 for B/Card me by Apr 13
£1456 for Creation me by Sep 13
£4189 for Creation OH by Nov 13

So in theory will be C/C and overdraft free by Nov 13. :j
That will leave just Loan at £466.11 per month that finishes July 15 if left alone, but we should be able to pay that off by Aug 14 by making overpayments.

so inc current month only 28 months to Debt free :j

what is absolutely bonkers is that if i can afford to pay £750 per month on debt and £466 per month on a loan now, when they are gone that is £1216 per month free right there.

It is amazing to think about how much money would be freed up if we weren't paying the debt!

You seem so organised and on the ball.

    Good luck with it all.
    GC June £78.50 / £250, May £262 / £250.
    Debt (excluding mortgage) April 2012 - £29388, May 2012 - £25588.
    Emergency Fund £0 / £1000.

    May budgets budget / spent
    Fuel ~ £196.00 / £62.00
    Food ~ £180.00 / £82.71
    Spends ~ £100.00 / £0
    Party ~ £170.00 / £0
    Hobbies ~ £46.00 / £0

    Challenges
    NSD ~ 15 / 0

Just been looking at debt figures (I think im obsessed. im constantly looking at my spreadsheet. Even if i cant update anything i will just look at it and see if there might be anywhere that i can make it better)
