Setting up a Business Whilst on JSA

Hi ,

I'm currently in the process of setting up a small business, I've managed to save up enough to start off, but I was wondering would I be able to claim something of my JSA whilst I'm getting up and running, I don't really need help with funding or anything it's just I wont be able to support myself in the first couple of months. Any advice please?

Also I'm not entitled to enterprise scheme as I've been told I'm being referred to the back to work program and I don't think I'm entitled to tax credits act as I'm 20 with no Children.

JSA is for people activly seeking full time employment, will you be doing this while working on the business? And if you got a job offer would you stop the business to take the job. If the answer is no then no you cant claim JSA

Well my business isn't full time it mainly caters for weekend events so yes I would be happy to continue looking for work whilst I'm getting up and running and expanding . I mean can I claim any sort of benefit to help me out not just JSA say for even just the first month

If you are working less than 16 hours you can still continue to sign and apart from the first £5 the rest will be deducted form your JSA. Once you exceed 16 hours your claim will close.
