Anyone Recommend good Boiler Cover?

I've been paying a Boiler cover for my Boiler in my rental property (which has tenants) - The house we bought from new, so new boiler is only around 5 years old, but thought it worthwhile to get cover if its rented out..
I've been paying as the landlord, a monthly fee, and now its up for renewal and its shot up for what is essentially "just in case"...
Does anyone recommend a good Boiler cover plan?
Or do people think its even worth it? If I get a dripping leak from the bottom of the Boiler (which I have had) is it cheaper to get a known local plumber out to it instead of paying cover, just to tighten a nut?
I suppose its swings and roundabouts? Any ideas?

British Gas. When I had a leak on the bottom of my boiler when a seal went, it ended up costing £150 and that was "mates rates". It ended up costing that because once you disturb them when doing the repair, they have a nasty habit of springing more leaks.0

british gas has some great ones..we only pay £3,99 a month because its just under two years old..It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
Thanks for this, so British Gas could be an option.. I'll have a look into their website and rates..0

Was hunting around for a deal and found this one from Dial A Rod, looks too cheap - what have I missed? Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

Old landlord had BG boiler cover - had them booked out to do the annual inspection and gas certificate stuff... so I booked the appointment, waited in all day and they just didn't turn up, first call in the middle of the day "oh someone's on the way this afternoon", then a follow-up call they denied the appointment existed on their system, meaning the gas cert expired for a few days before they could do a new appointment, and we as the tenants had endless bother with the letting agents wanting to cover themselves over the gas certificate and pushing that we'd have to move out until a new one was in place - thankfully it was all going on as we were mid-move into our bought house so we weren't turfed out on our ear but potentially we would have been (especially since LL was taking the line of "I've paid for this service to do all my boiler checks I'm not going to get someone out to do one if I need to since they're being prats").Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0

No, it's not 'swings and roundabouts'. You'll always end up paying far more in the long term with a 'cover plan' than a local plumber.Does anyone recommend a good Boiler cover plan?

I think your letting agents were being a touch overzealous! We rent, and have had gaps of several weeks between gas safety certificates, and nothing was ever said. (Maybe mine are too lax!)
How could they possibly have got you to move out? The legal processes would have takenmonths, and been bad for everyone. Strange ...0 -
I wouldn't recommend British Gas. They refused to cover our 3 year old boiler and then tried to sell us £100s of extras.Martin0

Can I just say that while BG are good, they are highly inflexible after your first year. And (having just experienced it) quite rude when you dare to ask why!
I have BG 200 on two properties. It is advertised as £19 per month in my area, but I pay £29.69 and £35.15 now. They refuse to explain why, and just continually bombarded me with generic statements. I tried to ask was there anything specific I had done (like use it a couple of times) and they said no - it's completely out of your control and we can't tell you how it works.
I do understand the premium changes, but with them not being able to tell me anything about it it's hard to change behaviour to get a better price.
So I'd say be a bit cautious. They are probably all like this, but after singing their praises on this website a few times, I am now not so keen. Nothing like a stroppy call with a rude customer services person to put you off...0 -
