New to Credit Card

Hi All,
I am new to this whole thing.
I am in my early 20's and working full time I currently have a car on finance, in my name and I also have a phone contract.
I was looking at getting a credit card as opposed to an overdraft to have for possibly small monthy spends and was just looking for some advice.
Also, if you get rejected does this go against your credit rating?
I look forward to hearing your replies!!
Thanks

the best advice is yes, get a credit card, use it regularly for 'normal' spending and always pay in full. this will enhanced your credit rating
you are already in debt; don't get in any more debt
start savings for mortage deposit, holidays, future car upgrades etc and except for a mortgage, never get credit and never pay interest (total waste of your hard earned salary)
best to try your own bank for a CC as they know how well you handle your a/c
if you are rejected, this only shows as a credit search and not whether you were accepted or rejected.0 -
I currently bank with Lloyds TSB, however I have seen a Natwest YourPoints cradit card avaliable.
As i am new to this, I have so many questions!0 -
there are hundreds of credit cards available
but many require you to already have one
best to get anything at all initially and after you have it for a year then look for a 'good' one
so try your bank as they know you
I'm assuming your credit files have no adverse information and you are on the electoral roll0
