Getting bras white again

Hello All,
I hope you've all had a lovely Easter and have enjoyed the lovely weather.
I'm sorry if this has been asked before, but could someone give me tips to get white bra's back to white? I've tried soakin in a bit of bleach, but this doesn't seem to work for me, is there anythingg else I can do? I've tried those whitening powders but they still don't work.
I know underwear is cheap enough at some stores, I'm sure some of you will know what I mean when you find a few which are very comfy and fit perfect so you don't want to change them.
I've bought the same style from the same shop etc, but they still don't feel the same as the old ones. I don't really want to dye them other colours as the white (now chewing gum grey) ones are better to wear under most of my daytime clothes.

you could try that stuff you can buy to whiten net curtains, dont know what it is called though0

I did read a tip on here (probably on a similar thread) and one woman "cooked" her bras in the slow cooker with some borax. Want to try this myself although I can't find any Borax (Boots appear to have stopped stocking it
) Dunno if it will work but I've tried leaving them on the washing line in full sun and it's not brightened them one little bit. Like you say they are too good to throw away

Don't buy white, buy flesh coloured ones instead. Or don't wash them with anything else at all. Hand wash them on their own.0

Problem is that anything that will whiten them will weaken the fabric, so not very thrifty!
I suggest that you call it a day with these, either dye them, or try the cheap old trick of cold tea - it turns anything a delicate beige (ecru I call it)
When a bra needs washing, I take it in the shower with me - I use old-fashioned soap anyway, so cheap enough to wash & rinse, then hang to dry.0 -
Thanks for all you relies. I do have some borax but not a slow cooker, so might put 1 in a pan and simmer for a while tomorrow and see what happens. If not I've never heard of dying things with tea, so if can't whiten them I'll have a bash at this. As I said, just too comfy and in good condition (apart from colour) to throw away.
i never thought either of washin in shower and hangin over the rail, this is why I love this site so much!!! So many different ideas.
Thanks again everyone.0 -
It might be worth washing them and then leaving them on the line for a few days - the sun may bleach them brighter. x x0

I'll add your thread to that one later to keep the suggestions together.

Forgot the golden rule of only putting whites in with whites & now my lovely bra & blouse are a dull off white colour. Does anyone know how I can get them back to their sparking white colour with household stuff? Thanks0
