As a last resort, what about Call Barring?

http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumer/consumerProducts/pdf/BT_Calling_Features_Userguide.pdfTime has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

thank OP. I see where you are coming from.
If I give some background. Friends & family have mobile contracts with inclusive landline minutes. We never make calls from our landline as we have mobile contract..We just want one-way line for purely mse purposes. save the pennies.Martin you rock:j:j:j0 -

As you discovered, the service isn't provided any more - and call barring is really the only option, but since you know not to make calls using this line, it is kinda self-defeating. For many years, I had both a BT and Virgin (OK, NTL) landline, the latter seldom, if ever used. A family emergency arose and the BT service was disrupted. Boy were we happy to have the diversity of a fall-back line!
Never disable a working line, you just never know when it can be a life saver.0
