IPAD 2 - Is an Apple Re-furb as good as a new one?

Im looking for an IPad 2.
Apple are offering re-furbs that come with a 12 month warranty for £359 (less 2% Quidco, so approx £351).
The next cheapest that I have found is Viking Direct that are offering a new one for £397 (less Quidco, so approx £367).
Do you think that I am any more likely to have a problem with a re-furb one? I know that it will have a warranty, but as its a present for my daughter I dont any more likelyhood of possible problems.
Any advice welcome!!

If they have a 12 month warranty and break then you are covered most electrical items if not refurbed to a good standard would develop a fault quite quickly so I think you should be ok.0

Someone once told me that refurbs are better than new because they are tested so they're more likely to not encounter problems or something.
Not sure how true that is though.2019 Wins

My first ipod was an official Apple re-conditioned model and it worked wonderfully, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another from them. Apple still offer the warranty and it should be as new, no worries in my book.0

I have one and did careful research for it. The referb is great. All the benefits of buying direct from apple, with £40 off and it all tested
Mine didn't come with iOS 5 pre-installed but that's no problem.
