Employer contacted when applying for Barclaycard?

There are some creditors who contact employers for verification purposes however not Barclaycard.

Morgan Stanley contacted my employer back in the day but other then them no other institution has.

Barclays wont check unless its a high value loan/mortgage.

A few of the responses do not appear to be based on fact.

My first ever credit card was a Barclaycard applied for in or about 1996 and I know that they did contact my employer to confirm my employment status. I can be sure of this because by coincidence I took call myself.

Things might have changed with Barclaycards operation in the past ~16 years but this is my experience.
