Tagging a picture?

Can any of you technically clever people tell me how to add a tag or label to a picture? What I want to do is add a description or title to a picture that comes up when the cursor is over the picture, and no matter what I type into the help, nothing useful comes up!

I know it is not that difficult as I did it before in the dim distant past, but can't remember how!:o

it's the "alt" tag you need...

Also if it is marking up HTML that you're after - try http://www.htmlcodetutorial.com - really easy to look things up as you go!

Thank you very much - I will try it and see if it is what I need! I am a bit of a greenie with html, but fortunately my web site is frontpage so I can use html if I need to but still see what damage I am doing with the split screen!

I'd recommend trying to write it in straight html if you can - frontpage is a bit of a bodge job, evident when you try and figure out what it's done by looking at the code.

It's much more satisfying writing it from scratch, and not that hard if you've already got the hang of how tags work!

Yes I agree with that - when I try to work my way through it the split screen it is very confusing. But Microsoft seem to use an awful lot of code for things that could be written more succinctly!

I think I could get in a big muddle though if I try to be too clever!
