DIY paint treatment on a new car
Comments
-
If you are just talking about the super never wash it wax stuff that they offer for new cars then yes you can. It's not that expensive and you just paste it on really.
That said, if it was that good the manufacturers themselves would put it on. No substitute for regular cleaning and some good wax.
Sorry if that isn't right, the post is a bit ambigous.

Paint treatment? Wash and Wax ?
I find the rain does a decent job of washing and polishing mine.
You wouldnt know it had not been washed for over 18 months, Most people assume its not been washed for years though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
what kind do you mean?
Are you talking about just making sure it's waxed0 -
Probably referring to a dealer add-on product such as supaguard or whatever they try to peddle after you have agreed a price on the vehicle.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep

I mean the paint sealant treatment that you are offered with a new car at £400 +
Which I have never gone for and was wondering how difficult it would be to achieve the same results myself (just without the paintwork guarantee) ?0 -
Short answer - go to Autoglyms website Supaguard and Autoglym are the 2 big players in this. When my Dad picked up his BMW complete with AG treatment and a valet pack, I pointed out teh complete set (with teh exsception of alloy wheel cleaner) in my garage0

Then yes. It's about £50
However, you'll get the same, if not better results with a really good wax and polish on a regular basis.

Can anyone recommend the best DIY paint treatment for me to apply (myself) to a new car ?
Is it possible to buy the same stuff as used by the professionals and apply it myself ???
Yes, there are many, many to choose from on ebay, take your pick

Dealers sell Autoglym's "Lifeshine" paint protection systen. The main ingredient is their Extra Gloss Protection
You can buy it separately for less than a tenner delivered.
It's easy to apply but rather tedious because you have to keep it off unpainted plastic trim.0 -
All you need to do is apply Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection twice a year, and then use Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo conditioner once a fortnight.0
