London Underground ... Frequency of Trains
Hi everyone, im trying to make sure my journey goes to plan this evening.
I am going to be leaving a theatre in Covent Garden at 10pm this evening, and ive got to catch the 22.48pm train at Kings Cross St Pancras.
What with walking from the theatre, coupled with the frequency of the underground trains at this time of night, do you think I will be able to catch that 22.48 train?
Thankyou

Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.

You should be ok - check tfl site for Piccadilly frequency - probably about every 5-8 minutes - if there's more than one of you a black cab might be almost as cheap0

Looking at the journey planner there is a train every 3 minutes between 2200 and 2300.Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -
It will be simplicity itself. You will have time to spare.0

Considering you can walk it in 30 minutes, I think you'll be fine0

Trying to get into Covent Garden or Leicester Square Tube stations at "chucking out time" for London theatres can be difficult with long queues.
Also don't assume that because the show finishes at 10:00pm that you'll get out of the theatre at 10:00pm.
If you have any other option then consider it.0 -

Do you think it might be better to walk up to Holborn at 10pm rather than Covent Garden or Leicester Square?
And everybody else, many thanks for your advice, and I hope it all goes without a hitch, as I really dont want to have to wait until Midnight to catch the next train! Some days I wake up Grumpy ... Other days I let him lie in.0 -
Try the TFL journey planner - http://journeyplanner.tfl.gov.uk/
Lets you put in the exact time you need to arrive at or when you want you leave0 -
CG is tiny with lift-only access. LS is much larger and can cope with the crowds most of the time. So I'd walk down to LS if CG appears to be full.
Either way you should stlll have plenty of time, even if delayed.
The walk between the two is just a few minutes. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Depends which theatre you're visiting. We went to both the Cambridge and Donmar (not on the same night), just NE of CG tube but found it easier to walk to Holborn rather than CG or LS as we were heading north. Same would go for Drury Lane and other theatres in the SE area of Covent Garden if heading towards Kings Cross. Need to add a couple of extra minutes transfer time if you're catching a train from St Pancras though.0 -
