Tuesday 15th November What Small DFW Things Will You Do Today?!

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :D

Good morning everyone!

Not keen on these dark mornings!

Today I will:
Check banks
Check CC
Check Paypal
Check TCB
Check Ebay
Drive economically to work
Breakfast/lunch/dinner from stores
2lts water
Transfer money in partner's account
NSD other than above
Update MS Money with above
Find list of relatives who need Christmas cards
Dust bedroom
Some AAT revision for upcoming exams...
Work hard!
Sign up to calorie counting website
Sparkle!

Have a lovely day everyone!

[STRIKE]Take lunch into work prepared last night [/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Visiting a nearby office to get a feel of a sub-division of the sector I work in for the morning. Bonus is it's from 10 to 12!!! A nice late start and it was nice to lie until 7![/STRIKE] - Turned up 10 mins late due to the buses, was there for an hour as they didn't expect me and were busy!
[STRIKE]Work hard all afternoon[/STRIKE] - Quiet! Went home at 4!
[STRIKE]As I don't drive, I use buses and the metro so it'll be my travel pass.[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Prepare tommorow's lunch for a crappy conference at Birmingham City football club. Would rather look round Morrisons and spend a day in the Blues shop![/STRIKE]
Ring Eon about my fusebox. No luck :(
    [STRIKE]Shower[/STRIKE]
Ring Mum - Not in the mood.
    Relax - Trying to.

    Morning all,

KJP - Thanks for starting us off. I totally agree with you about the dark mornings, & it's too cold to be getting out of a nice warm bed! :(
DNMS - Have a lovely time in Coventry if you see this!
Karb - Thanks yesterday wasn't so bad at work, am hoping today & tomorrow go fairly smoothly & then it's time for a long weekend!
NTBY - We're planning on going to a nearby town to get some xmas shopping done & we'll stop off for lunch somewhere nice, then Friday we'll chill out before going to a friend's 40th. Then Saturday we're all going out for a Chinese & some drinks which should be fun! Sunday is another chill out day & we're planning on going to Hyde Park's Winter Wonderland on Monday, where we will hopefully not spend TOO much money...:o & Tuesday is another chill out day before back to work. So nothing too pricey planned for his birthday but it all adds up, which is why we haven't really been out this month so far! Howcome you've started eating meat if you don't mind me asking? (Also a former veggie here). I hope you can sort out your budget this month, but don't worry occassionally it does go to pot but it sorts itself out again the next month :)

    Today's plan:-

    • [strike]Food from stores[/strike]
    • [STRIKE]Charge phone at work[/STRIKE]
    • [strike]Make use of free water/milk at work[/strike]
    • [strike]Need to go pick a parcel up & get a birthday card on my lunchbreak, but will try to come straight back afterwards so I'm not tempted to spend money![/strike]
    • [STRIKE]Check for surveys[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Enter comps[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Dinner from meal plan[/STRIKE]
    • Check online banking
    • Check out this weeks flylady thread & do something
    • [STRIKE]Try & keep the heating off for as long as possible[/STRIKE] - Had to cave in as it's freezing!
    • [STRIKE]Use free washing up liquid[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Take refillable water bottle to Polenastics & get a lift there[/STRIKE]
    • Package up bridesmaid dress to return, & ensure my other sister is doing the same!
Have a great, MSE day everyone x

    Thanks for starting us, kjp

Oh what fun, Pernie!! I love the winter wonderland - you're making me homesick! I don't have a big reason to stop being veggie tbh - just felt like it was time to do something different for a bit. My first meat meal (unless you count the delicious grasshoppers they serve here...) was crocodile, wildabeast and wild bok from a game meat restaurant. Head first and all that.

    Love your username, twelvestops

Exciting that you're getting orders, stitchy!

thanks for the WB yesterday, karb

Today is going to be a bit of a long one. Today:
    • breakfast at home (boy says the yoghurt was off but I had already eaten lots of it... oopes!)
    • vet came by in the morning to give the pup his last shots and some anti bs
    • matatu (firetrap minivan...) to work
    • work hard at the office as loads on
    • lunch provided by work
    • check banking and update budgets
    • going out at lunch to the market to buy some veggies - making chili for the first time in months! Need to walk through Kampala's red light district to get there so will try not to get a rash or anything on my way :rotfl:
    • check banking and update budgets
    • cancel bike lesson if it rains
    • going to my first Luganda lesson at 8 - only 10k UGX so cheapo
    • possibly going out with folk to see a Congolese film at the theaters for half price as its tuesday

    Happy tuesday everyone
    Mortgage free by 30:eek:: £28,000/£100,000
:DDebt free as of 1 October, 2010:D
Taking my frugal life on the road!
  • Well, I'm off work sick at the moment.
My DFW deeds today will be:
    1. Nose around on here
    2. Review my budget
    3. Look at different mortgage options for when my current deal ends in Feb
    4. Make sure I've updated all my MSE challenge results on the threads
    5. Not buy anything (or trawl the internet aimlessly only to find myself filling an online basket somewhere)
    6. Delete all emails I receive today offering me discounts, eBay watch reminders etc!
  • OK the list to stop all of my other lists I've alot to do and new job starts tomorow! I've done the bank etc - thank you for the thread KJP -

Parcels to make up and post
Tidy up house and I mean the whole house. (eek this requires a long long long list all of its own, which I might do in a mo)
Beef out of freezer for tea
    Ebay, ebay ebay
    HM lunch
Try and get a bit of work done - both on computer and out there in the wild lands of this island.
Find the loo roll stash, I know we have one - I know we do!
Figure if I can't find it do I buy enough loo rolls from co-op (recycled £5 or 6 for 18 rolls, I think) to spend my £30 for £3 off
    Washing away
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Hi everyone. It's the anniversary of my Dad dying today, so a day of reflection.

Had a bit of a disastrous journey into work, there was a broken down train, so we got diverted and arrived over an hour late!

    Today I have/will
    Free parking at the station
    Free newspapers and coffee
    Charge phones at work
Check online banking - a credit card minimum payment has gone so I've now reached my target for the pay a debt in 100 days challenge. :j
Travel to York this evening ready for early start tomorrow (travel paid for by work)
    Evening meal on expenses

There's bound to be other stuff, but i cant think of it at the minute.

    Have a great day everyone.
Debt free since December 2015. It can be done

    Morning Gang,

Thanks to KJP for starting the thread

Thought that I’d get back in the habit of posting on here – life has been stupidly hectic over the past month or so, and far too many things have slipped (Including posting on here), so, while I am on a week’s holiday I thought I’d better post

Hope everyone is ok, hugs to those that need them….hello to new posters

    Today I have/will:
    • Meals from storecupboard
    • Need to get rid of the plaster residue from my arm where I gave blood yesterday
    • Been for an interview (a job a mile away rather than 30 at the moment) – decided it wasn’t for me…no study support, a standalone role
    • Rather than wash my interview clothes again, I’ve put them back in the cupboard
    • Need to email the agency to tell them my decision
    • Checked online banking
    • Updated spreadsheet
    • Checked quidco – a payment is on its way to me
    • Do more free bingo
    • Moved lottery winnings to savings account (won £50 on a scratchcard)
    • Need to work on college work this afternoon – having a couple of issues with my trial ‘not so’ balance
    • Eat something before I go to college
    • College tonight – might treat myself to a drink there or take one from home
    • Leave home in plenty of time so I can arrive at college unstressed
    • Save all my college work to my portable hard-drive – only cost £3 for the case as ‘hoarding’ hubby had the hard-drive squirreled away
    • Possibly keep an eye out for cheap railfares for my trip to Liverpool in February (this might be on my list for a while)
    • Catch up on the thread
    • Early night

Think that is about it, love to you all – you keep me sane!
