My laptop has been playing up recently. It is running windows XP. Have another laptop which is running Windows 7.
I have some important data on the old laptop which i can copy onto a CD. Is it worth doing a backup? If so will it work on windows 7 or only on xp machine?

Programs you cannot move, but you can save their Product Keys using programs widely available...such as Belarc.. Then you can download the programs themselves from places such as FileHippo.
As to whether they will work on Windows 7...depends on the program.0
