Gahhhhh I've spent the past 2hrs looking at beds for when I move house. I'm going to buy in the January sale but up until now haven't managed to find anything that makes me go "ooooooooooooh". Well that is until now... I've found a bed that fits with my ethics, but not necessarily my wallet. The Ikea beds are about 1/2 the price, but I'm not convinced that they will last as long, and I really do want to stick to my principles.
Anyway, I've found this: http://img.warrenevans.com/2011frames/8-1.jpg It's made by a fair trade, environmentally friendly, FSC certified company that make handmade beds and I've fallen in love with the bed just from the picture. You can even have an organic natural mattress for about £100 extra. Altogether the cost is about £1300 at the moment, but hoping Jan sale it will be less. This also includes two under the bed storage boxes.
Am I mad for wanting something that will last? I want to think that in the long-term it will be better for my wallet/health/back to get it. Will sleep on it until the sales.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

Hi Hun,
Im up at a crazy hour.. slept loads yesterday and had to get up to eat for for baby..
Postal bags on ebay, free delivery and about £4.99 for about 50 and they come really quick (about 2days).. i usually get the nice pink ones.. if you want standard blue or grey they are even cheaper..http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50-x-Strong-Large-PINK-Postal-Mailing-Bags-Sacks-12x16-/160674859910?pt=UK_Envelopes_Mailing_Bags&hash=item2568f7cb86
check ebay for the sizes you want first.. they do mixtures.. large.. extra large.. but just put the link so you get an idea.have a search andc there are LOADS of them so could save you lots
Totally agree about the bed, stay away from ikea ( i had a look around a few months ago-and its totally do for now furniture. Definetly wont last)..
The chinese sounded niceyour allowed a treat.. take it out of the mailing bag saving lol..

Cherry you're a star * :-) that's just saved me a lot of pennies. I'm off to buy some now, I shall put the savings towards my road tax when ebay pays out
I'm meant to be having a lie-in, but after my OH called me at 9.30 to tell me that spending so much on a bed is a ludicrous idea, then having my Dad phone me and tell me to get the cheapest thing I could, then seeing my sister on facebook tell me it's too much money I feel like everyone has widdled on my chips, and widdle doesn't taste very nice. I feel really deflated =( My OH says that £495 on a bed is OK, but I have to take into account that I move house quite alot (I houseshare in London) and that apparently beds don't go back together very well.
I negotiated with him that buying the bed base would be a good investment, as £495 on a bed base which in Ikea would cost about £300-£400 isn't too bad. But he's worried about the "what if's"... what if I lose my job, what if I have to move out of my place quickly... etc etc. If I lost my job at the moment I'd be screwed with or without the bed, although I'd have lots of pasta and Nutella to live off... eww I wonder if you could eat those two together?!?! Anyway, negotiated to buy the bed base that I like, but to get a cheapo Ikea mattress. Need to check the measurements and still not going to buy anything until the January sales.
I'm going back to bed for a bit, I was meant to be having a lie-in.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

ahh i hope it was of some help :-) they are great for clothes and are cheap to post as they dont weigh anything.. If i need to pad something out i wrap in bubble wrap first and then wrap them over.. even cardboard around stuff.. anything really.. i have a big sack and i keep the boxes from mailing etc and re-use them
..
I had a matress from ikea.. they are ok.. had no problems with mine and they do come with a 10 year guarantee. Next online do nice beds aswell.. and they are great for delivery.
Friend arriving in a bit and ive had a super clean , put some lush yankee candles on (xmas smelling ones) lol x0 -
I bought 100 in grey for £5.55 so thank you very much
Hope you enjoyed time with your friend.
Todays wallet damage was £5.55 which was spent buying 100 postage bags for my ebay items. They are currently selling at 13 items for about £22.50, I'm most impressed with this.
DFW thing of the day was to cut out the mouldy bits from the cheese and make 2 take-away tubs of cheese straws with the grated cheese. I'm really pleased that I managed to do this, as wasting cheese is something I don't want to be doing.
I've got a house party to go to next weekend so have phoned/texted my friends to see if they have their costumes ready. It's a party in Wimbledon, so either Wombles or tennis outfits. I'm going to go to sports direct on Saturday with another friend and find something suitable. I've been known for my somewhat revealing costumes in the past (more that I have long legs so show them off, less hooker). My OH isn't very happy about me going as last time I met up with my uni mates one of them made it blatently obvious in front of said OH that he fancied me, and he's going to be there on Saturday. I've invited another friend that lives in Wim to come with me, this way I am supervised (not that it's necessary but puts OH at ease just in case) and I have someone to carry me home
Right off to watch Bridesmaids, make a travel card holder, and tidy more things into boxes.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

My housemate had a friend stay recently who has bought me a £1 bar of galaxy and a £1 bar of cadburys which I have been devouring whilst watching Bridesmaids hehehe. I was also given a £2 to make up the £4 each budget, everyone else got wine so that's £2 into the pot yay.
Finally the OH has realised the importance to me that we buy a bed together, even if we are living 150 miles from each other for the next 18months. He likes the idea of buying it together and that it's ours. I'm going to take him bed shopping in 2 weeks time when he comes to visit and help me move, not going to tell him that's the plan until then or he'll just say "do we have to?!?" because he is a boy!
My sister hasn't ordered her new table from Next yet, so the £50 for her birthday is still sat in my account until she does or she'll spend it. Ebay is up to £24+ for 15 items, and I've had a good sort through of some stuff this evening whilst packing.
Warning deep section following:
I've just realised I haven't taken my thyroid medication all weekend which is really bad. I have no thyroid as it was removed in November 2009/January 2010 when they found very early stages of thyroid cancer (this may have also caused me to spend lots of money on useless rubbish I don't need). I got the all clear in October 2010 though, but to stop it coming back I have to take thyroxine, which I am fine with doing during the week when I'm scheduled to get up at 7.30am and I have it before I go to work as part of my routine. But when it comes to the weekend I regularly forget. So I'm going to now write down each day that I've taken my medication when I take it so I can keep track of if I have forgotten. Please tell me off if I appear to have forgotten as my TSH levels need to stay depleated to stop my body creating thyroid cells. *slaps own wrist*
Lighter note:
Going to watch my first ever episode of Vampire Diaries now, I know it's very teeny but I need something light before bed. Oh and have told the previously mentioned uni mate that he's not to flirt with me anymore as he missed his chance wohahaha *heartbreaker*.Diary: Getting back on track for 2013 and beyondDEBT FREE 13-10-13 :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I had the same feeling towards Vampire Diaries when OH wanted to watch it - I was surprised to find out I enjoy it and look forward to the next episode!
I find the 'teenage' aspect dilutes slightly each episode, so you may have to watch a few before you get drawn into it.
Hope you enjoy it as much as we do*drooling* Ian Somerhalder *drool*
You get a bonus point if you can tell me what (massively popular) series he was in before Vampire Diaries (and no Googling!).I was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T0 -
