2012 Frugal Living Challenge (Part 1)

It's my son's 4th birthday party tomorrow, so I have 10 3-5 years old in my house starting at 11am!!! Then family, then in the evening we are relaxing in front of a movie and maybe a takeaway as a treat if I can be bothered to go and get it!
I have made bunting (see 2011 thread for piccy) planned games, drawn a lovely big monster and tails for "pin the tail" done party bags cheaply with bits I already had, plain bags and printed nice labels, made the cake, sausage and chips for lunch and jelly and ice-cream. Even got given the jelly by my brother as I forgot to buy it, so as long as the kids don't trach my house it will be a cheap party!Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.

I can't remember, but it wouldn't show up, as it was bought as part of my shopping. Its in my car, I'll be taking it back tomorrow n see what they say. They didn't have any in the shop to even do a straight swap :-(
I took it back, and luckily for me, it was on recall!
Lady said without the receipt she wouldn't have been able to change it, but as its on recall I get my money backWoohoo unfortunately they had nothing I could buy to replace it
went to homebase n cheapest one they had was only 400w, even their dearer heaters only went up to 2kw, yet I was sure I had seen a 3 kw somewhere.

purpleorchid- we are staying in on new years eve. we have invited a couple of friends round to eat with us, have a natter and catch up as we havent seen each other over christmas. Also playing taxi to my DD in between. Have enough food in already to make a nice meal and wine left from christmas so wont be spending any extra money to do it. far too expensive to go out around here at new year cheapest i have seen is £50 each before drinks!!!!!! i think not this time i would rather keep my cash in my pocket.
My wool order arrived today so should keep me busy for a few months (christmas pressie so no cash spent) , think we should manage with food etc too for at least another week without buying anything so hopefully a good start to the new year. cant believe its almost heresealed pot member no :0812011- £306.68 2012-£304.36 2013- £387.44 2014 - £441.43

shes talking rubbish....it has to be of 'merchantable quality' in other words, it has to work, and you do not need a reciept to take a faulty item back if it is within its guarantee period.....the retailer should refund you or offer you an alternative/replacement if that suits you and they then take it up with their suppliers/manufacturers ..... trust me, i have had many run-ins with sales people who don't know what their responsibilities are under the law.....however, I have always stood my ground, got the manager involved where necassary and have been known to inform them that the next conversation they will be having about my issue will be with trading standards!!:D
I think its under the Sale of Goods act....but have had a few too many glasses of wine to remember!!:rotfl::o:rotfl:
Glad you got it sorted anyway!!! :TMortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

Hello peeps
After spending the past 4 1/2 years cutting back the biggest things I can do now are
Stop smoking
Cut back on the amount of food we eat
Only drink home made wine
I need to lose a stone before I give up smoking though as I always put weight on:(
So big diet month coming and please put any fabulous desert recipes in teeny weeny writing so I can't see them please :rotfl::rotfl:
Got no kids tomorrow night but DH and I are unsure what to do with our new found freedom. I don't want to spend any money but feels a waste not going out............decisions decisions :rotfl::rotfl:
