i'm gonna join you all aswell :) my budget looks like this

    rent- £6360
    elec and oil- £1800
    food-2400
    desil- 1560
    t.v £145
    phonebill/sky/broadband- £792

    clothes-£300

thats comes to a massive £13,957,it's scary when you see it like that but our income is £23,004 so it's not so scary, i'm gonna set my budget at £14,500

i feel like i've forgotten something i don't have any other car costs because it's a company car (it's a family business it's our car but they bought it and pay tax and insurance and mot and servicing ect worst we ever do is top up the oil). i don't pay council tax as it's rates over here and my landlord pays them and we don't have water tax

so if u could put quintwins on the list please :)

When doing budgets the easiest thing is to go down through your bank statement then you can see all your DDs, SOs and payments, don't forget things like water, car maintenance, breakdown, phone costs and any insurances (house, life etc) Sorry that was meant to be helpful, hope I don't sound bossy!!!

Nice to see you CW18, sounds like you have lots of plans in the pipeline, good luck hun x x

Just got to get off my backside and get stuck into them now :rotfl:

Mind, I've made a start this morning..... backlog of pots has been washed, and I've just finished cleaning the hob, the tiles behind it, and the doors on the cupboards around it. Giving myself a 10 minute break, then I'm back in there to clear off the worksurfaces alongside it..... and that could take a while :o

  • OK worked out my budgets which I hope are sustainable - as I've joined the pay all debt by xmas12 thread - I really need to focus on my day to day living expenses. So I have budgeted 57% of our income on budgeted outgoings such as mortgage, bills. etc, 14% on savings for xmas / emergencies / holiday/days outs and all insurances and car bills(paid yearly not monthly), 1% contigency on monthly spending leaving 28% to repay debt. Will watch this thread with interest for ideas.

  • A very rough budget

    Item Month year

    Rent - 750, 9000

    House extra savings - 100, 1200

    Petrol - 120, 1440 (OUCH)

Shopping(weekly shop for me and the pets plus occasional clothes) - 200, 2400

    Going out(including haircuts) - 200 2400

    Birthdays, pets, union, 100, 1200

750 in rent and 720 in spends.

    1470 a month.
hmmm that leaves with me 540 to save each month. not enough, am supposed to be saving for a deposit. it is a start I guess!

I do have my second job but am considering giving it up as it is adding to the stress of life at the moment. I don't want to give it up as I enjoy but for now will not include it in the budget.

In general since it is a 11.30 I should get a shift on.

    xxxx
    Nevertheless she persisted.

So the plan was to get seriously stuck into that in the hope I'd be well done by Easter (suspect I'll have to go through everything several times, getting rid of more on each cycle until it becomes manageable)

You get a different perspective on your stuff as it thins out; some things that you couldn't think of parting with get a bit more space and a bit more light and, eventually, you think why the heck am I hanging on to that?:D

Hope once I move out I don't clutter the place up and have to sell it all for half the price a year or 2 later. Hoping from now on only debt is mortgages.
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

    May I be added please?

I'm working on my budget in great detail at the moment, but it's already coming up over £8000 in spending over the course of a year (and that's paying only £225 a month rent!) O_O Scary stuff. I'll be picking at it tonight to work out where it can be chipped from ;)

but then that budget includes my very expensive car insurance, public transport costs and various work-related costs (insurance, business insurance on my car, ofsted registration, work associations, courses, etc) which easily reach half of that figure alone :(
    Saving for a deposit: £5,400/£20,000

CW18, good luck with your new bloke and the marathon - well done on that! I'm guessing any thoughts of heading to (less than) sunny Scotland for your downsizing will be off the cards for now. :D
