Right budget done....even though i live at home and pay £100 a month for food, electic and all bills etc....total cost for the year is £6,408. That is bearing in mind i do not touch my 9-5 wage. I need to take in enough from overtime to pay for the following :
    • Spends in Florida for April - Looking at £1,500?
    • Car Insurance...being 20 and having a 225bhp car...looking at around £1,700
    • I WANT a new laptop, my one is on last legs, will be a 21st present to myself once i get overtime money to pay for it...looking at £1,000. I know can get what i need for cheaper but its a long term investment and this one will have lasted 6 years so £1000/6years/12months = £13 a month for something i use at least 2 hours a day. Bargain :rotfl:
    • Any other weekends away i have....£1,000 should cover them.

So ALL my expenses = £6,408
My WANTS (from overtime money) = £5,200!

Double the cost to live as i want so much. If i stick to all this though....should have a £20k+ surplus to save. :money:
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Spent £5.68 on groceries today so that takes me to £8.70/£4000. Most of my week has been filled with NSDs. Focusing mainly on food and gifts this month. The gifts will mostly come out of my voucher stash from doing surveys. Food, I'm paying in cash. Have £36.30 left until Christmas.
    2011 December - No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries - UUs: 5 In: 5
    2011 December - Grocery Challenge - £8.70/£45
    2011 December - Make £5 a day Challenge - £7/£155
    2012 Frugal Living Challenge - £8.70/£4000

I got mine from the apple website, but I got a student discount at the time so it worked out to be a good deal :)

  • Can i join please. Been a lurker for a long time but I am very interested in keeping a close eye on our finances so that we can save some money over the year as our eldest son is at college and hoping to go to Uni and I would like to be able to help him out.

Both myself and my husband work but with the costs of elec, gas, food and clothes going up we seem to be struggling so this will be an excellent time to look at our finances and see were we can save the money
2013 will be the year I go from frump to fab. With help from my friends.

My budget has been done this week and it looks something like this

    Yearly totals
Rent £1080 (HB pay towards this)
    Water £400
    Elec & Gas £500
    Tv License £145
    Baby Formula £416
Groceries £780 (inc nappies toiletries cleaning etc)

    Total is £3321

So I'm going to set £3350 for my budget :D
