I don't eat: bread, potatoes, rice, pasta or flour. I deep to high fat (60%), medium protein (30%) and low carb (10%) or there abouts. I have about 50 grams of carbs as fruit & veg - no root veg - a day. You could if you wanted have your carbs as bread now and again - I love prunes so my carbs are usually taken up mainly by them. I have oatcakes occasionally when I want some 'crunch'.
I find I'm not hungry on this eating regime - I eat lots of no added sugar peanut butter, almonds and other nuts. When I ate low fat I hated giving up cheese, now I haven't needed to. If you look up William Banting (the first successful diet in the 19th century) you'll find out why we're all so much heavier since low fat became the pactice.
Aaaaaah, that explains the term "Banting". In my youth (:rotfl:), I read all the Agatha Christie books, and there was one, in which the murderer was caught, because the victim was "banting", and couldn't have eaten the cake ....................... or something like that!
I have gained (a lot of weight) since I was diagnosed with BC, and my 5 years is up in August. :j:j:j My weight gain is partly due to the fact that I used to be a gym addict, and afterwards, I just didn't have the energy. Partly (so my GP told me) because of the medication, and partly because my appetite seems to have trebled!
But I'm alive - sadly I've attended several funerals for those who didn't make it, and I'm just grateful for that. But well done you, for sticking to it so well!

Bit of a strange question, but what do u do after using ur frying pan with the left over oil/fat? I don't use mine very often, but did for these amazing organic beef burgers with herbs... best burgers I have ever tasted! (Got as a groupon offer for fruit n veg n meat box for 1 person for 2 weeks... gave half to parents house as we wouldn't eat it al... meat went in the freezer, vacum packed...) anyhoo.. normally if its mince I'd drain it down the sink n flush with lots of water but I'm aware this is not good for the pipes.... everything gets recycled, so don't have random things to put it in bin with...
I haven't seen much of tumpty on here... hope all well xLiving Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

I rarely fry anything, but when I've grilled/baked my burgers or sausages I get fat that's drained out them left in the small tray I've cooked them in
I let this set, then scoop it out with a spoon and put it in my general waste kitchen bin. Sounds like I'm a bit like you in this not filling up very quickly - rarely more than 1 carrier bag of rubbish (that can't be recycled) every couple of weeks. As a result my general waste wheelie bin only goes out for collection every 2 or 3 months, (and only that regularly 'cos I don't want to be accused by neighbours of being a health hazard) despite us still being on a weekly collection (until later this year).

OH did this on Friday night and went out Saturday and I found the blocked sink  he didnt run enough hot soapy water and with the weather being cold it all blocked up. stardrops to the rescue and a kettle of hot water (after my cup of tea was made of course) and it all cleared, was rather impressed with myself.
we have saved old fat before, melted it and mixed with stuff to make fat balls for the birds. someone will probably tell me off for making them that way0 -
I've just signed up to the Save the Children £3 a month. I was watching tv and they were saying how, if they get money now they can send lots more food as they don't have to rush with flying it out. So it sounded sort of frugal and as I haven't charities at the moment - spent the last couple of years helping out a Cameroonian family of Asylum seekers, but they're okay now - so it's back to giving a little where it will help. Can't afford much, but I do try to give up to10% of our income.Clutter free wannabee 2021 /52 bags to cs. /2021 'stuff' out of the placeYOU CANNOT BE ALL THE GOOD THAT THE WORLD NEEDS, BUT THE WORLD NEEDS ALL THE GOOD YOU CAN BEtaken from Shelbizleee on YouTube - her copyright0

well done to all of you who are managing to keep things going, i have been struggling with meals this week, due to lack of money more than being frugal lol. is just going to be poached eggs on toast today and cereal. just as well i have a low appetite at the moment.
on another note i have to tell someone about this because i am so happy today, i had a date this morning, 1st time we had met so bit nervous, plus not bothered with dating for a long time now. anyway when he got here he handed me a carrier bag and said i was going to get you flowers, but i figured this would be better for you (due to the fact we had spoken about me being frugal). he bought a silverside beef, ready cut mixed swede and carrots, ready cut bag of cabbage and a bag of potatoes. i was well chuffed lol, beef dinner on the cards tomorrow i think. he was a really nice fella and we are meeting again, woohoo go me lol. and he is a chef so has said that he will help me with new recipes for my bulk cooking. told me is getting me lamb next haha, i did say there is no need, but i think he will anyway.
sorry to go on but im very happy lol.
Luv P

I've been seeing my chap just over 8 weeks now, and he's insisted on paying for a take-away a couple of times when he's been over to mine. I think that's been his way of returning the favour for my cooking for him a couple of time even though I've not seen it as necessary as he's paying for petrol to get to mine - but I wouldn't dare refuseCheryl0 -
Thanks Seriouslyfrugal I will look into that when I can get back to it.
We piloted the swim tag - watch you wear at my pool but unfortunately it's ended now.
I didn't go to the Doctors as I forgot I had ordered redelivery of a parcel.
For some strange reason I bought a rather hideous china bird music box from eBay with some of my Christmas money. It is kind of cute in a funny way but not me at all!
I have just had a huge argument with someone from BT as I recently upgraded my Internet package and didn't realise I no longer had free day time calls so I had a hefty bill
He was happy to remove the call charges if I paid another £4.90 but originally we were offered the calls free as long as we stayed with BT for a year.
When I said well if it's no longer going to be free I won't have it he refused to take off the call charges.
My whole point was I didn't ask to come off free calls, wasn't aware I'd come off free calls so they are going to listen to the initial phone call.
Maybe they said what the new plan was but it didn't register as I was already ringing because I'd asked to upgrade my Internet the month before and they hadn't done it!
Anyway very stressful and my daughter had to take the call and he was rude to her too and my daughter stays very calm! Here dead we lie because we did not choose

Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.
