2012 Frugal Living Challenge (Part 1)

Hello all, Frugaldom could I please join? Have been following with interest and wondering if I'm frugal enough to be in the team, but then thought "hey, I shop at Lidl, I tried to make yoghurt last night, I'm in!" Yoghurt making failed, sadly, but am undeterred. Have a wonderful day all!

Thanks for the PM, Jo.Mo, hope you have a great time taking part. Name now added to the challenger list.
Once again, apologies for not posting, but I do read the daily email updates and will try to post progress. Coal, groceries and petrol have been the only spends so far, plus I've 'cashed in' 1000 Nectar points to turn it into a £5 Amazon voucher to save towards 2012 Christmas shopping
Using up as much as I can from stores and looking forward to getting back out into the garden to begin this year's food growing challenge.
Managed to get a couple of oil-filled heaters through local LETS group, got a 'new' stockpot from a friend that had one lurking, unused, in her cupboard and have been offered an electric handmixer from a fellow Frugaler, so only need to pay postage on that. (Much appreciated, proves there is still cause to have some faith in the human race, afterall.:))
Keep on frugaling, people, it gets easier and easier as time passes and then you'll soon be wondering how you managed before that.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Jo - you need to PM Frugaldom so she can add you to the list
Gah, one thing after another in the SF household! My computer has been in for repair for over a month now, but have rung today and can go and pick it up - it's going to cost £165 for repairs  then my BBerry crashed and I had to take the battery out for it to do anything, and now the keypad doesn't work so I can't use ittook it to the phone shop near us, going to cost £30 to fix it. Just one thing after another it feels like! Grr.
I also need to go to Mr Ts today for some food as we haven't got anything in, plus I need to get some new passport photos taken.
And, sigh.Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Just got a bargain in Tesco. Comfort Pure fabric conditioner should be £3.30 a bottle (although I would never pay that) is down to £1.65. I had 2 75p coupons, so got 2 bottles for £1.80 and it should have been £6.30. Go me!! I also have 2 x £1 off Persil small and mighty which is down from £10 to £5 at the minute, will get that on Thursday. Feeling great and very organised on this challenge so far.
Hope everyone else is well.Fashion on a ration 0 of 660 -

Well done Purple.
Hope you perk up soon. XHere dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.

Hi frugal folk.
It's definitely going to be small steps in this house but so far I have managed to keep a daily spending diary for food and household shopping and use the washing line for drying clothes instead of just chucking them in the tumble dryer each time. This week I'm going to avoid using the car for any trips to town or school and walk even though I will have to turn a deaf ear to DS. He hates walking anywhere. I figure if I add a small change each week where possible it will be easier to adjust. Have a good week everyone.:j:T:rotfl:0
