thanks to some help from several people on here I've just got a new graphics card see here but the only problem is my crappy old monitor only has VGA connectors...
would i be right in thinking i need a DVI Male to VGA Female converter like this one to connect the two?
edit, actually i'd like to pick one up from Maplins tomorrow so would either of these do the job?
thanks

yes, if you really need it that fast that you'll pay 3-5 times the price
Haven't you got a local independant that may have them cheaper ??
......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -

actually, would the Maplins one work as its a DVI-A to VGA and the graphics card is DVI-I (right?)
Normally i wouldnt dream of paying so many times more for getting it a couple of days earlier but im getting a bit impatient
i could be near Tottenham Court Road tomorrow though, there are computer shops round there i could pick one up at no?0 -

Check in the graphics card box, they usually come with at least 1 DVI-VGA converter, most come with two if they've got Dual DVI-Out0

checked it but noonly a 6pin converter for the power cable
checked the specs here and it looks like i need a DVI-D to VGA converter0 -
Hmm, I'm a little surprised it didn't come with one. If you're not in a rush I can send you one if you like, I've got more VGA converters than I have VGA monitors0

An adaptor might not work; somebody I know had a similar issue, bought the adaptor and nothing. The adaptors will only work if the card is capable of analogue output.0
