Hi
I'm in the process of upgrading to a C2D system and so need to sell my current P4 rig. I want to place an ad in the local classifieds but not sure what a decent price is. Can anyone suggest what I should realistically be looking at?
Intel P4 3Gz
40GB HDD
CD RW
DVD ROM
1G Memory
17" CRT monitor
keyboard & mouse

think you get more by selling the component parts on ebay, ie CD drives, RAM , motherboard, processor, PSU etcEx forum ambassador

what motherboard and what graphics card? The graphics card in particular could have a major impact on priceIt's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Intel P4 3Gz......reasonable
40GB HDD.........too small
CD RW..........should really be a DVD writer these days
DVD ROM....... see above
1G Memory........not bad
17" CRT monitor.....worth next to nothing most people want TFT
keyboard & mouse......pound shop ten a penny
in total for what you are selling (in the absence of graphics card details I would imagine its "on board") I reckon about £120 to £150 max IMHOI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

motherboard isnt too hot and has on-board graphics.
i have a dvd rw which i'm keeping to put into my new system, but i can get another one for £20-30 and if I get a 80GB HDD for £30ish, would that push the price up to make it worthwhile or would it just add on what paid out to upgarde it?0 -
don't think you'll recoup what you put into it....now if u had some of these bits lying round spare...thats a different matter....but spending another £60 if anything might only get you another £60 back.I'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j

With a properly licensed XP Home (& media) - £150.
No OS - £500 -
Put it in the classified for £150, and try to get around the £100 mark.
But £50 would still be fair if its in a rough condition.0 -
To put the price in focus, you can buy a brand new, with warranty basic celeron system from Staples for £199 or a P4 system for £249.
ebuyer do acers for £235
I build refurbs to a higher spec than yours and over the last 12 months anything over £150, even with a free warranty doesnt seem to sell.
