in IVA & DRO
Hello all,
My brother in law has 'apparently' taken out an IVA at least a few months, maybe a year or more ago, and I have a couple of questions;
He is not listed on the Insolvency Register, and I thought that every IVA was (I've tried all the open options for name of court and so forth).
Secondly, my mother in law tells the missus that he has told her (yes I know, he said, she said, etc) that he has just taken out a £3,000 loan. Given his background I would have thought the last thing he could get his credit.
Now as to my motives, well his situaiton and attititude is causing no end of grief for the family and he will not talk to me. I'm reasonably well clued up on these subjects but I'm asking myself is he on the level, being ripped off by his IP, such as it is, or maybe is it an attempt to elicit sympathy form an ill and stressed mother. If it helps, I think he has a small amount of equity in his house.

Although the insolvency register is fairly up to date it took them 5 months to add me ! So he might just appear yet. However, if he has an IVA on record there is no way he would have got further, legitimate, credit. Indeed, if his finances were in such a state as to warrant an IVA, I doubt he'd have got credit.
It is an outside possibility that he has signed up with a dodgy company, but if he won't talk to you there is no way you can verify this.0 -
Thanks,
I was not sure about the time lag for the register, though I suspect we are looking at a year or more with whatever he has taken out.
You've confirmed my thoughts on the loan side of things - Given our relationship I get to know everything second or third hand. It should not be this way I know, but me and the missues is the enemy......0
