it depends on the use and cost. i5 is a better processor, 6gb is obviously larger than 4, but the likelyhood it you won't notice any difference, and one hard drive has higher capacity than the other, which again may make no difference unless you have > 320GB of data!!

First of all HDD capacity will have no appreciable effect on performance, you will need to decide whether you need the larger drive.
I would think that the combination with more RAM will probably be better, but bear in mind that RAM is cheap and easy to upgrade.
Do you know the specific i5 model?0 -

Hi
yes its the Acer 5742 as opposed to the 5742z or 5552.
I have the 5742z and 5552 91 of which is for a friend) but not sure if I should try to get hold of the 5742 and return the worst spec 1. They all seem to be the same price.
I mainly surf but may think about doing some music and video editing but its not a priority.
thanks for interest so far0 -
I would go for the better Processor. Memory is easily upgradable at a later date and inexpensive, Not that you really need more than 3GB for normal use.0

I guess, because you didn't mention it, that you don't need 500gb compared to 320gb? Although the same argument would apply, it is easier to upgrade hdd than cpu...0 -
When I get laptop repairs, virtually every single laptop with a 300GB hard drive has 200GB or more of it unused. Most of the 100GB is Windows, a few apps, a few songs, a couple of hundred photos with the majority taken up by System Restore.0
