Got my first CC, do any shops charge extra for using it?

I know that withdrawing from cash machines can mean fees.
What do any shops charge extra fees for using it?
Eg, when I was going to pay my car insurance, it was £5 more to pay by CC but not fee for by Debit Card.

Some, usually smaller, shops charge say 50p if you spend less than a fiver or so, as it eats in to their profits to accept CC payments.
They normally have a sign warning you of this. Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??

There is a wide range of fees and charges depending on retailer. Many charge nothing for a basic Visa/MC purchase but do have a 5 pound minimum spend. NEVER withdraw cash, it really isn't worth it with interest being paid immediately and cash advance charges of up to 5% loaded on top.
Always try to clear the entire balance at the end of the month to avoid over paying interest.
Shopping on the internet is safer with a credit card because all purchases over 100 pounds are protected against being conned.0 -
Watch out for paying for gambling transactions by credit card - eg online gambling sites, as these will be charged as cash advances by most credit cards.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

Not most of them - one does include a similar form of protection, thats the cashplus card, which has a monthly fee - see the 'how to get protection without a card' bit of this article http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases
Actually they are not really protection against a person being conned - but they offer you protection if the merchant doesn't supply what you paid for.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
thanks guys. I am going to try stoozing. My first credit card was actually through my bank - Halifax. I really want a Tesco credit card because of clubcard points, so need to build some kind of rating first (don't know if stoozing is good or bad for this)This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
