Do you have an overdraft with your bank? if not might that be an option (assuming you could repay it within a fairly short period).

There are schemes around to help people pay deposits but I believe these are generally for unemployed/ very low income so I assume you wouldn't qualify?

Yes I already have an overdraft, £750 to be precise which I am trying to get out of.

Oh right okay, well I rang up about a property earlier on today and she asked if I was on housing benefit when I asked about paying the deposit in installment so yes, I think you're right!

whether you can get a loan elsewhere will depend upon 1.
what your credit files say (get copies so you know) Can you suggest any good sites? I've never viewed my credit report as I'm too nervous. Sad I know...
    2. and on your existing debts .. how much are they Currently £600 overdraft, just under £300 left on loan.
    3. and on your income ; how much is that
    £1000 a month takehome.
  • I would suggest talking to Barclay's, in a branch and apply for a new loan to replay the remainder of the first and free up the capitol required for the expenses. 2 considerations:

Keep the repayment as is now to not notice a significant uplift in expenses.
Take the loan over the required period to keep the payments as is.

APRs are slowly coming down so good luck with that, plus Barclay's will give you a better credit score then open search as you are an existing debt customer.

This was my finding during my dark days.

Jem your credit file must be trashed. Are you quite sure further borrowing is the way forward?

Thank you for the advice. Wouldn't they talk to me about it over the phone as I work so it's hard for me to get into a branch? Or is it best to show my face?

I'm hoping they can help me........

Thanks a lot. I am not in that position anymore so what makes you think you can go back over my previous posts and problems?
I have got myself a job and I get more in my pay packet every month thank expected so I am better off than I was then. That was when I had just started work and I needed some money to tide me over to pay my bills for that month as my pay day wouldn't give me the money in time. I borrowed the money in the end anyway and have sucessfully paid it back to my other half. Don't really need to explain myself...and as far as I was aware, borrowing from family doesnt affect your credit rating!!!!

Can't you wait a few months & save a deposit?
It will be very tight paying rent, bills & a loan.

It looks like I will have to.
Although, my rent will only be around £450 and bills will be small as I will be living on my own. I already pay for broadbnd so will just switch the addresses and I will pay single persons council tax....Just need that deposit haha!

Everything adds up though & you still need to eat & have a social life.

    You missed my point...

In your previous post you said
For example, I have missed a couple of loan payments and a credit company was chasing me for some money a while back but correspondance has stopped and they haven't chased me for a good 5 months now.

This is why I say your credit file must be trashed. Sure as eggs are eggs this will not be forgotten about. It will be sitting there quite merrily growing and growing until they decide to take another run up at you.

As soon as you update your details with a new address they may come back to you. I don't think another loan is a good idea, this will come back to bite with some nasty venom.
