BT Call Divert with CPS

Ok, so following all the best principles of money saving, I had One-tel for the free weekend calls, and 18866 for the rest of the time. All fine and good. Bought an Orchid dialler, and just remembered to dial ## at weekends to get free calls.
Now, a change in personal circumstances means I need to use Call Divert to my mobile when I'm out.
Goto BT website and it doesn't appear on the list, even if I navigate to it and click 'Order now'.
Call BT (Call me now mysteriously not working.)
"Oh yes, it's because you use CPS, and we don't want you t be charged twice for the call, sir"
Call One-tel and remove CPS(10 days).
Call BT back, explain and lo, Divert is on within 2 hours with no further questions. Will check recent calls list in a couple of days, to see which service is billing me. In the meantime, have declared my mobile as my best friend - a little sad.
Is this right? I mean, can you only get caller divert without CPS, as a cunning way of persuading you back to BT for calls? Seems just a tad anti-competitive if so.
Or is it just call centre numpties doing their best for Auntie Beattie?
Thoughts, moneysavers?
Simon

I have BT for line rental plus four of their extra services - including Call Forwarding. I have CPS with TalkTalk (free evening and weekend) and bypass that with 18866 for daytime landlines and 1899 for mobiles. The call forwarding puts callers through to my mobile if I am busy or don't answer - and the cost appears on my TalkTalk bill. You cannot forward to 18866 or 1899.0

It would appear that a number of BT enhanced services don't work with CPS. I found out that ringback was one of them a while ago.0

Ringback works ok for me and I use TalkTalk CPS (see above)0

I used to use NTL prior to getting BB activation last September, initially I had to use a prefix number which wouldn't work with ringback although if the prefix number was left off then ringback would work. NTL then changed to CPS and again I couldn't use ringback. Since activating BB I have been with Onetel (using 18866 during the week) and again I am unable to use ringback.0
