    Thanks for replying. I wasn't sure if the guard was only compatable with the artisan, but given the price I think I'll chuck a teatowel over it if it's going to be messy!

    I sent an email to Customer Services - think i went through the help menu and email option, explained what the problem was and they emailed back to say they were sending a replacement and sent me a free returns label for the faulty ones.
