At boots, it would be cheaper to buy a new pair (especially if they have the BOGOF offer on), but if you look online, it'd be cheaper to buy a new pair at another website. There are some sites who will reglaze your old frames for you. I got one of my old pairs reglazed for £10.

No problem. My sister used to work in Boots and she always bought her glasses online...they threw a blue fit when she wasn't wearing one of their pairs, but as she pointed out, they didn't pay her enough to be able to afford any!

Online glasses are so much cheaper, it makes it much easier (maybe too easy...) to build a 'collection' so that you always have spare pairs (i feel my 'collection' of 'spares' may be slightly out of control...).

Just make sure and double check that you put exactly the right prescription into the boxes. I've only had problems with two pairs that were made wrongly, but i sent them back and they reglazed them for me to the correct prescription.

I'm surprised she couldn't afford any with the 70% discount that they give, I used to works at Boots opticians and got a new pair every 3 months.

Any way, we would advise that either the glazer used would charge £70 for putting new lenses into old glasses as there is more work involved so when you think that there are normally glasses which are bog of for £79 it isn't worth it and the store will have experience of how often the glazer breaks the frame (& this is the risk you take when doing this as the opticians take no responsibility) so not only will you be without glasses for a week to 10 days they may break it but of course this depends on the age of the glasses highly unlikely on say a 2-4 year old frame but much likely on anything more!

So all in all you haven't been conned! Don't forget if you do order online then you will need your pupil distance (PD) measurements.
