Edinburgh Hotel for Wife's 30th Birthday

Hi to you all,
The dear wife is 30 in July and I want to surprise her by taking her to Edinburgh for her 30th. She and I had our hen/stag dos there and she said she would want to go back to Edinburgh.
Does anyone know of any good quality/good value hotels? Want her to think that I've spent some decent money on it.
I stayed at The Clarendon and she stayed at the The Old Waverley.
Thanks in advance for all you help

Use the search on this board only, top right hand corner and put in edinburgh, no capitals, and it will come up with a load of results.
Also check out the Scotland Board.0 -
https://www.visitscotland.com has some good suggestions and they may send a free but excellent guide to 6 Scottish cities + shopping guide.
Try Point on Bread Street near Princess Street - modern but not too expensive, Jurys Inn and Bruntsfield

Well if you want to make it look like you went and did some searching...
Why not take her to a nice B&B . I booked a B&B for my husband and I a few years back in Edinburgh and we had a lovely, romantic time and I remember loving the 4 poster bed and high ceilings in the room
Here's a link to check out some in the area https://www.smoothhound.co.uk/edinburg.html

If you want somewhere nice try Malmaison.

What about the Bruntsfield Hotel? http://www.thebruntsfield.co.uk/
It's in a nice area and you can walk to Princes Street there in about 15/20mins. It's right by the Bruntsfield Links and the Meadows too which should be nice in July.0 -
Not sure if your travelling by train...if so you can get a discount on train fares and hotels if you book through GNER, look on the website but you have to phone to book.0

Thanks to everyone so far.
Not travelling by train, will be travelling by plane from Bristol Airport.
I have done searches etc for edinburgh and edinburgh hotels. Alot of useful information however not many personal experiences I could find.
Anyone else got personal experiences?
Thanks0 -
Why don't you look on Tripadvisor - that will give personal views on specific hotels.

HAve stayed in Edinburgh a few times although often just in travelodge cheap deals and stayed out wherever possible.
Grovsner Garden Hotel - Opposite Haymarket railway station.
Not too dear and in a quite cul-de-sac... under new ownership after i've stayed but is ina fantastic new town building with giant bay windows in each room and many elegant 4 poster rooms.
Prestonfield/The witchery
If you want really luxury you can't go wrong, but at £250 per night this is hardly moneysaving.
MW townhouse/gueshouse - link
stayed here before.... a little further out from the city but a perfectly turned out guesthouse for a reasonable price by edinburghs standards. The delux suite with the rolltop bath looks good.0 -
If it were me my first chouce would be
http://www.tigerlilyedinburgh.co.uk
not cheap by any means, but different and special.
Second choiice would be the witchery. If you want a chain then the Sheraton. However, these are all expensive, but also vlaue for what you spend.
McDonald Holyrood quite good value, but doin't book direct, you can get deals on the net for about £100 a night.
If you want a lower proce than that maybe Jury's or Holiday Inn Express are worth looking at, much better than travel lodge.0
