The goods were dispatched today and after going up the tree a little they agreed if I do the 20 mile drive into the local store they will refund the goods immediately and give me a gift voucher for my trouble. Sounds like the call centre staff are to blame, you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

Thanks for all the good advice and as for the mean posters you can kiss my hairy scottish a**e.

So you didn't cancel in writing and are therefore yourself in breach of the DSR? Have you actually read the DSR or the guidelines?
  • I like this one, can we keep him?? :D

For a newbie you sure have some attitude

According to Directgov - "If you have already paid for the items or services, the trader must refund your money within 30 days of you cancelling the agreement." - what makes you feel your change of mind gives you any more rights than this ?

If standing up for yourself is an attitude then you are correct, the biggest problem with the UK these days are all the jobsworths who think they run the place always spouting rules and regulations like it was important or something.

The cancellation e-mails were sent less than 24 hours after the order was placed and yes I can read.

    Thanks for your help anyway.

    More of the usual...

If only the first quote had been true.

Since you never have anything useful to contribute I doubt you'd have been missed.

So true, I'm new to this forum so who are these guys, all they do is post negative comments. I can't decide if they are sitting at home on benefits or which council do they turn up at sometimes for what they call work!

Sounds trivual maybe but it's been a long time since I've dealt with an online retailer with such a lack of empathy for it's customers, they are only interested in one thing, obviously your money and customer service is a term that is completely over the head of Debenhams employees.
But you are not a customer are you?

You are just another time-waster who orders stuff they don't want then cancels.

It's a business and exists for one purpose only.

The reason I cancelled was because they did not advertise their sale online and the goods dropped in price by 40% in less than 24 hours. Only an idiot would not try to cancel and reorder at the discount price. The DSR are quite clear that I have a right to cancel.

So in the future try and connect your hands to your brain before you start typing and get a job!
