Hi
New Acer laptop
Have created ercovery discs
Have created backup drivers and applications
Have created Windows system Image on external HD
Have created sytem repair disc on DVD
Have deleted McAfee trial
Have deleted spurious games and things I will not use
Have no Internet as yet so cannot load AVAST and Malawarebytes as I have been recomended to. Will do as soon as wireless router arrives
Questions:
Do I need to set up Windows backup as I am being prompted?
Will this do behind the scenes checks for updates?
Will it slow my laptop down?
NOTE: I AM NOT THE BEST IN THE WORLD FOR DOING MANUAL SEARCHES FOR UPDATES
If I need to do it, fine, but are there any things I should uncheck when doing it to avoid anoying things happening?

u seem to be fully covered actually; u could do the backup and - no - it won't slow down the machine . windows updates can be set for manual install or automatic ; i always prefer to install updates at my discretion -- might not be appropriate for novices though .Hi

Thanks.
Have had a look and it is already set to automatically search for updates so I have left it.
Just wondered why I am getting the message -
"Windows Backup has not been set up" as a PC issue to solveThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
It's not an essential task, but useful. You can always accept and hide that message.
(Can't remember the precise procedure/terminology). 0 -
it's not an issue as such ; it's just windows trying to be helpful -- as a reminder .;)Thanks.
