Forced lunchbreak?

  • The problem isn't with your hours, it's with the workload/staffing. When you have your child, you will leave the office on time (which you are not doing now because you feel morally obliged to stay and finish work). If you did leave on time, and left work unfinished, the company would be forced to deal with the workload/staffing issue.

I appreciate that all circumstances are different, but after covering a colleague's two separate years maternity leave on my own, if they had returned to work and suddenly started being paid half their lunchhour while the rest of us don't, there would be a mutiny, not just by me!!

Just work the hours you are paid to work and let the company sort out the problem with the overflow.
