Mado, If it is 95/98/ME, try it in safe mode (F8 at boot), anything that touches the HD (virus scanners/firewalls/swapping) will cause constant restarts otherwise.

Thanks to imho on another thread I have discovered 'defrag-ing'. I have done it to my PC and have told my computer dunce sister that she needs to do it too, the problem is that she has just moved house so is waiting for broadband to be activated so is running on *yawn* dial up *yawn* at the moment!

Does a defrag require you to be connected to the internet whilst running?

Not if you run the one from start, accessories, system tools. That one's all from your hard drive. It'll take a loooooooooooong time if you've not done it before though....
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

    I've been Money Tipped!
Just wanted to say THANKS! really.
Cleared about 1 Gb of junk through the CClean, and now, the PC is defragmenting (10% done!)... which I hadn't managed to do for more than a year. It is my kids PC but even they get frustrated at its speed!

If it's 95/98/ME, and sticks on 10%, try safe mode.. On 98/ME, the actually defrag doesn't start until 11%, the first 10% is checking the disk for inconsistencies.

they also show a program called "boostspeed which had loads of free clean up /improve efficienct type things which were good ... then of course various things were available for £13 a year subscription . Is it worth it ??
