i need a 30k loan, i only earn around 15k per annum.

my main bank account is with barclays where all my work payments goes too...should i just take a loan through barclays as it will be less hassle....my credit rating is not the best...

i was also wondering if i used my credit card which has 5k limit, take all 5k out and then transfer this over to another new card which has 0% transfer rate...is it worth doing this?

Why do you need a 30k loan?

  • I wouldn't withdraw £5K from your credit card as the interest rate for withdrawing cash is horrendous, even for a short period of time.

  • No one will lend you £25000 on an unsecured personal loan.
Do you have a property to secure the loan on? (IMO this should only be done as a last resort.)
  • i need to invest in a property.....whats the max i can get on a personal loan....
  • Why not get a mortgage instead?

Investing means risking money. Money you haven't got to start with.
    I'd steer clear myself.

If it's for a property, why can't you get a mortgage instead? If the value is insufficient to get a mortgage, why do you think it's worth bothering with?

    Don't do it.

I looked at doing something similar to get on the property ladder. If me and my OH had done it we would have borrowed £5k for a deposit, then £125k for the property with existing £30k debt between us.

Its not worth it if you only earn £15k. We earn £39k between us and we couldn't afford a property so I really wouldn't try on 15k.

Everyone makes out at the moment that if you're not on the property ladder its the end of the world, but much as I hate giving money to a landlord every month,I'd rather this than lose my home if I couldn't keep up the payments.

I used to lend for a living and would echo the advice that you won't get more than 25k on an unsecured loan.

If you want to buy with a friend (and 30k is your contribution - I'm guessingf at your circumstances here) look at the mortgage companies who lend to a group of housemates.Sorry but I can't remember any off the top of my head, but do a search on google and you will find a number of agents offering this service.

    Best of luck!
