Sweets/Biscuits Vegitarian?

M and S now have vegetarian percy pig sweets. The strawberry chews in wilkinsons are also vegetarian x

Thanks for all the posts, yes I know their are specialist "Veggie Sweets" you can get, but I want to get the normal stuff....Roses, Mars, Kit Kat, Cadburys chocolate,etc. but they usually dont have the "Suitable for Veggies" V on them.

I have been looking for marshmallows at a good price and checked out halal ones I found they often contain fish derived gelatine or halal gelatine, in the end I got some from sweetvegan which although expensive compared to non veggie ones were delicious. The only way to be sure is read the ingredients and look out for gelatine, cochineal and other substances you know are derived from animals.
I have been vegetarian for over 20 years and only recently found that most wine is not vegetarian :eek:, so I understand your thoughts that if it does not say it is suitable are there some animal products used in the making that do not appear in the ingredients.

If there are no animal products listed in the ingredients I and all the vegetarians I know are happy to eat the product, if that helps you despite there being no V

!!!!!! when I turned veggie 25 years ago the Veggy V as almost unknown. Eat them or don't eat them it's up to you.

I'm going to have to let my OH know as he is vegetarian and eats them all the time.

Sometimes there is not a V, but a "Suitable for Vegetarians" in small writing. If you are strict and it does not have this label, you should assume that there is rennet in the product.

As far as I know, the only common chocolates that are not vegetarian are Bounty and Twix. The store branded versions of these are good and almost all store versions are vegetarian.

thortons turkish delight is vegatarian i think. check in store also have some gluten free choc.
