No you just have to read the ingriedients, Kit Kats have whey which may or may not be suitable depending if it used animal rennet in production. Ruffle bars are vegan but never have a V on them.
Here is a list from a Halal site run by Muslims which seems up to date. Last year.

At one point (2006) they were using renneted whey but seem to have stopped. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Exactly my point............I dont want to examine every product for the ingredients, and how would I know if the "Whey" has animal rennet.?
Halal is a method of cruel killing, cant see what its got to do with Vegetarianism.
Why put "Halal approved" if theirs no animal products in it anyway?0 -

Halal is a dietary code - which also includes the method of killing -which in it's day was more humane than what had gone before, it covers a few other things as well. Like if a dog has touched food with it's saliva it is unclean etc. Some Muslims are veggie to, it's not compulsory to eat meat. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. My Dad has to eat halal and sticks to a pretty much vegetarian diet. I know in Westfield one of the pick and mix sweet stalls was all halal because of being geletain free etc so a lot of the time halal sweets and biscuits are also vegetarian (but not always vegan however). I was delighted to discover recently that you can buy veggie Percy Pigs in M&S - they have green ears!0
