can factory restore dell inspiron 1525

hi there

i can not do a factory restore it will not read the restore disc , but will read all the others, tested disc in another computer works fine.

tried f8 then advanced boot option but when i click repair computer it just loads windows normally

    when in normal Windows, does the drive read/see the contents of the disc? try burning the restore disc again .

    no but it will others fine, its an office dell disc, it will work in my normal pc , tried f8 then advanced boot option but when i click repair computer it just loads windows normally , why would it do this when it should give me the option to factory restore, i can see the restore files in partition d for this

    If the Restore files are on the D: partition, perhaps you don't need the optical media.

    i meant offical dell disc, i can not do tht option, when i boot i press f8 for advanced boot options, click repair computer , press enter, then it loads windows normally instead of give me the option window to do a factory restore , many thanks

    Operating System?

    You are mixing two things. The optical disc and the Restore partition.

    For the optical disc, you go to F12. Restore Partition F8.

    its windows vista

    the laptop will not read the factory restore disc, but will read other discs.

    the disc works as i have tried it in another machine and viewed the files.

    with this in mind i thought i would try the restore using the restore partition from the hd.

    so i re boot the machine press f8 for advanced options, press enter on repair my computer, but instead of loading the repair options it boots stright into vista

    Try Ctrl + F11 on boot.

    You can also try this, though don't know if it will work for Vista.

    the above did not work , maybe if i try an external dvd reader to boot the factory restore disc from . , manyt hanks for everyones help
