We took two cars to a carpark and overstayed our two hour welcome by about 30 mins, so both got letters.

MIL offered to pay our fine as they'd chosen the car park. I told MIL to just ignore it, sent her links to this very sub-forum.

But no, she's been to the police station and her solicitor, both say she has to pay it.

I told her to still ignore it and that I was too.

What annoys me most is the solicitor, what other duff advice is he giving them?!

At the Police Station she will have probably seen a civilian manning the desk who would not have had a clue.

Why on EARTH would she see a solicitor about a simple mail scam like this? Does she consult them if she gets a phishing email or junk mail as well?

And she could have just watched the Watchdog clip with a solicitor who knows what he is talking about (Tim Cary). I take it you have shown her the preview letters to ignore and the Watchdog clip already (all there for newbies' info, second to top permanent sticky thread 'PPC letters & threats'?).

If she wants to pay she's been mugged - if she paid that solicitor she clearly has more money than sense (sorry to be harsh).
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I know, I was getting frustrated on the phone telling her that her solicitor was giving the wrong advice; wife told me to 'drop it'.

I've given up, but really worried about what other 'advice' they have got out of this wonderful solicitor!

What a stupid solicitor... God help me if he had to defend me in court!!

Wasn't it judges demand who wrote some stupid letter to someone of pepipoo. Enclosing copies of their postings on pepipoo expecting to scare the member, who wasn't in the slightist bit concerned!

In the solicitors defence (even if they were wrong) if they told the OP's MIL to ignore it officially not off the record. Then if anything did become of it they could be liable.

I would not want to use that solicitor for any contract work I had though!

Judges Demand ? Bloody hell how can name like this be allowed to exist ? Surely it's misrepsentation of authority ? Disgusting that it's allowed
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

The owners! Mrs Julie "Judge" and Mr Nicholas Durbin

Durbins demand wouldn't work as well! ;)
