I just looked at the application form and you are asked to give a password. Am I wrong to be concerned about writing down a password along with all my other details on this form?
Maybe not as good a system as for online accounts but for a postal account which is better? An account with no password where anyone who knows your account number and some personal information can ring up and access your account details or one that additionally has a password that is only known to someone who also has to intercept the document?
The security is in the fact the funds will only be paid out to the linked account that you specified on your application and any fraudster would have to be very patient as no one - not even you - can touch the funds for two years.0 -

The password is to verify your identity if you need to call them up regarding your account:
In the boxes above, please provide a password that is strong, easy for you to remember but hard for someone else to guess. This will then be used to verify your identity before we accept your telephone instructions or discuss any aspect of your account with us. (If you are an existing customer your existing password will apply)

For anyone who hasn't used Close Brothers Savings before and is thinking of doing so. Just want to point out some plus points from my previous experiences with them.
When your fixed term savings account is up and running you will receive an investment certificate that lists all your future annual interest payments, and the date it will be paid each year into your nominated bank account.
Also in the past Close Brothers paid the annual interest by CHAPS payment into my nominated account, even though on the investment certificate it states 'Interest will automatically be paid by BACS to your nominated bank account'.
This is my past experience of using Close Brothers Premium Gold Account so please don't hold me to it. But hopefully I'm not tempting fate here and they will continue to do the above in the future.Never let the perfume of the premium overpower the odour of the risk0 -
Only one previous experience with Close Bros and had no problems whatsoever0

My experience with them in the past has only been good (apart from the short time that their accounts are available for due to the demand). I have sent them an application form and a cheque this week so hope I get in before they close the offer.0

Due to exceptional demand our 2 year fixed rate fixed term Premium Gold account paying 4.25% AER has now closed.

I guessed that would happen I'm glad that I delivered my application by hand on Friday.
My experience with a previous issue was good.0 -
What a bummer, so near yet so far away:(
I was hoping it would last another week at least.
Oh well, looks like it will have to be the 4% offer now or perhaps the Kent at 3.60% for a year.0 -
Well it was good while it lasted! Let's hope a few more banks and building society's want to build their deposits quickly and come up with some similar rates.0
