Can I downgrade Ios5 on 3gs?

As the title suggests seems my 3gs seems to have thrown a major wobbler since the ios update. Worked perfectly for a year and a half before that, now just seems to crash and freeze all the time. The new updates not helped either.

Anyone know if and how the ios can be downgraded to ios 4? Thanks

have you tried a clean install of iOS5 (ie not a restore from backup)? see if that fixes your troubles, it's weird iOS5 made my 3GS better in every way, better battery life/ faster.

I think you have to download the older IPSW of the version you used to have / want - put your iphone into DFU mode then hold shift (on PC) while clicking restore which allows you to browse and select for the old IPSW 4.3.5 or whatever!

It depends. As you are asking the question, I would probably say 'no'. Apple signs the version of the iOS and will not let you install a previous version unless you have saved something from your phone first. In order to save them (SHSH blobs), you need to have been running a Jailbroken iPhone and used Cydia or other tools.
