Just after some advice, mature Uni student, most people are using cloud sites so can access work at home and at Uni, but at mo I use a memory stick.
So is cloud safe, and worth my while, also which site to use
Many thanks

PC World do for £15 p/a 500GB of splace where you can edit documents too. Installs a drive on the machine to drag and drop files to be uploaded. Its run by LiveDrive. Well worth it.0

Use Google Docs you get 1Gb of storage its tied to your Gmail account (Also some Uni's are moving to Google Apps accounts for emails so you'll already have a Docs account)
you can access it on your mobile / tablet or PC.
Personally I don't trust DropBox (Too many security fubar's in the past year or so to make it worth the hassle)Laters

I agree with you there - but I don't think my random notes on Linux and letters to friends would have any useful value if anyone gained access to them! It's fine for my needs, but yeah - I wouldn't trust 'em! (Wouldn't trust anyone, really - if it needs to be secure, I'll secure it rather than trusting someone else to do it).0 -
plus one for Dropbox -- one of the best imo.BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

I use dropbox.
There are others cloud sites with some free space offers like:
ADrive 50GB
4shared 5GB
sugarsynch 5GB
pogoplug 5GB
mozy 2GB
Windows live mesh 5GB
Amazon Cloud Drive 5GB
Not all of them have easy interface like Dropbox but it is worth checking these.0 -
I like dropbox too - easy enough to use but I still dont trust them complicity like i would with a USB stick. What you need to sort out with yourself is do you want the info there reaady no matter what comp you use - if so then the memory stick is the job for you. If you dont mind the hassle of uploading stuff then downloading it somewhere else on another PC and the time involved depending on your connection then maybe the cloud is for you.
Was never called the cloud when sites like rapidhsare all started up god knows why its called it now too."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0 -
I'd use windows live skydrive, it has 25GB of space and a 100MB file upload limit, I personally trust it more than dropbox
but as with all 'online storage' you are at the mercy of their servers, if they go down then you are stuck without your work, at least with a usb stick you can ensure the security of the service (unless of course you lost it)0 -
Vote here for Microsoft office live - free and on the back of the MS cloud - Love or hate Microsoft, they do make an effort to keep their flagship sites up and available
I have an older account, free, with 2gb storage and cloud based versions of office software.0
