    So what would you suggest?

    Do you have emergency savings?

    A pension?

    Funding/a plan for the travelling?

    They're all things I'd look at first.

    Right now any money I have want to invest is going into the stock market, for the long term.

    The house idea might be a good one and it might work but you need to think about what you will do if the tenants stop paying rent, do a runner and/or trash the place. My LL says the last lot did it to him and it cost him £12k.
