Ebay - postage costs question - error in listing?

Hi there - I'm hoping someone can help. I've seen an item I'm thinking of buying. The postage costs given on the main listing page are showing as £4, however in the main body of the written text the seller gives is as £5.75. As it's only a low-value item (and one that I'm buying as part of a charity event), that £1.75 difference is a factor in the overall price. If I bid and win, is the seller obliged to stick to the listed price in the heading, or can they up it to the price mentioned in the written text? What price will the automatically generated ebay invoice show if I pay as soon as the auction finishes?

The automatic invoice will show as £4. It's no doubt a capped P&P item. Sellers think that they're being clever by doing it that way.
If you bid & win, they can refuse to sell though.
  • I thought that would be the case - I'd be tempted to try it on and hope that they won't want the neg/low stars, but to be honest, I can't be doing with the hassle. I need to buy the item and use it - not spend my life starting fights I don't really need. I'll buy one that's been properly listed instead!!

If they refund you can't then open a NPS case, or at least I couldn't last week when a seller refused to sell as it hadn't reached the price she'd wanted, as it's showing up as not paid.
All I could do was leave neg FB.
  • Well, her auction has finished with no bids - for two items of clothing at 99p start. Just shows, buyers are wiser than some sellers think!
