I got this at xmas through the post, its a gift card offering 3 month free rental to new and cancelled customers of screen select.

There are many lovefilm promo's but none as good as this, it states it is ok to pass it on to friens if not used, I have used it recently and passed to a friend as well who has also used it.

Thing is it is a really good site so many will stay and pay. You will have to register payment details to use but no payment is taken for 3 month and you can cancel without obligation.

There may be a usage limit, the code has been used twice without problem.

are you sure it is a free trial as when i tried it went to my previous account and terms and conditions state only one free trial per customer.also gives tariffs based on which no. disc option i chose.no mention of anything free.

wow thanks. perfect for those dreary winter nights. if i don't want to get charged to I need to cancel it like 14 days or before or just before the payment is due to go out.

John.xs, yes it is definately free without catch, I am currently using it. I have been unsubscribed since screen select changed to lovefilm, if you have used another free trial very recently maybe it wont allow another.

It does give you option of package to choose, i.e, 1, 2 or 3 dvd's I guess on the assumption you will stay beyond 3 month and pay.

Sazluvey, i would think 2 weeks notice is required to cancel DD, you should be able to check this on the site.

I wonder, do people who capitalise on offers like this -- though undoubtedly posted on MSE by OPs with the best of intentions -- ever, ever bother to run a quick search of the MSE chat boards??????????

In my experience, Lovefilm will:

1. deliver faulty discs
2. make you maintain a list of a large number of films, then only deliver the ones you didn't really want but only included to make up the numbers
3. Claim black is white when you email them with any complaint

Loads of people signed up for their "Free trial" with a Boots voucher. Many had a fight to get the voucher. I would have stayed with them if they had been any good, but they were not.

Avoid.

yeah I did take a look at the other topics actually mate. I chose to go for the free trial and ensure that I cancel in time (a LOT of people who complained about charges didn't cancel within the required period), I have talked to lots of people including one of my close friends who thinks it is the dog's bo**ocks and haven't had any problems. I know that some people have had a really bad experience with Lovefilm - but I'm going to give it a go, if it is good I will sign up, if not I will cancel. try not to be such a smart !!! for no reason please.

James n, hello. Promotions like this are to secure paying customers. I didn't post the thread to abuse the offer, i just pointed out that you could infact enjoy 3 month free rental without payment. the gift card i received stated it was ok to pass the code on. i will stay with them, I've subscribed before and enjoyed their service, if you watch a lot of movies and turn them around quickly its a good deal. I only cancelled becaus i was out of the country a lot and wasnt really benefiting.

In a 6 month sub previously, I received 2 faulty discs, inevitable really when some will return faulty discs without informing them, especially if on a free trial... I dont believe they send out faulty discs on purpose... what possible gain?

If you only request new releases, they may not be able to fulfil demand, i have a rent list of over 50 titles, the turnaround is fast, I'm happy with what i receive and often get my priority choice straight away.

I understand companies exist by making profit, i dont expect everything for nothing like the boots voucher lovefilm thread. I'm a genuine customer and am happy to receive 45 pounds worth for free. just thought some others might enjoy the trial... and it seems some are pleased........
