Portable Router

I have a photographer friend who wants to wirelessly stream photos from their DSLR to their computer whilst they are away from their office.
EG if they are working as a wedding photographer and they want their photos available to a computer / many computers so the brides/grooms parents can quickly look at photos whilst they are being taken.
My idea is to use a wireless SD card and a wireless router (not connected to the internet) and send the photos direct to the computer using the same 'wifi' network. They thought was good, but the only problem was if they wanted to do it, where there wasnt a power socket. I have had a quick look around and found some portable/battery powered routers, but have no idea what one would work well.
So if anyone has any ideas on this, that would be a great help.
I just found this:

this is similar to what im trying to achieve but with a computer not ipad (and probably more than one device)

I'm not sure that you actually ~need~ a router.
If you have a laptop with a wireless card in it, you can configure it to look to other devices as though it's a wireless Access Point rather than a computer - that's how many of the coffee shop "man in the middle" wifi security attacks work.
Possibly your biggest problem would be finding a PC-based equivalent for ShutterSnitch.0 -
That router the guy uses in the video is this one, on ebay post to the uk

I would of thought, you the card the guy uses, connect to the router, laptop connect to the router then just use windows explorer > network and browse through the camera that way.
I found this forum if its any help.

Thanks to both of you.
Fwor - The idea works great, but would it work with more than 1 laptop
Crampo - I found the router the guy was using, I was really looking at getting one a bit cheaper than what they are going for atmTech Savvy Student trying to help and learn
