£750 selling limit

Brilliant ....just been informed that ebay have merged my wifes account with mine.he has a couple of negs and has only sold about 50 things so put them both together and consequently I now have a bad seller ratings.
Because of this i now can only sell £750 a month just as my business was starting to take off (not massively but in the £100's).
Any advice as how I can get this taken off would be very much appreciated.
Does anyone know if I was to close down my wifes account would my ratings go back to normal?

thanks to the many knowledgeable people in advance :D

Go to live chat and tell them they are different entities and should not have been merged. No idea if it will work, but haven't actually heard of this before. Live chat seems to be the most helpful.

If your business is a business account and your wife's account was a personal one then there shouldn't be any confusion.
    .
  • It will be tough to get them seperated - just trade well and build up that feedback and then go back to ebay once you have a decent track record showing that things have changed.

I've never known two accounts to be merged by ebay- ever. They might link them but there shouldn't be a mechanism at all anymore to merge accounts.

    What exactly has happened here?

If you mean they were linked, then your own account retains it's good feedback and no buyer sees your wife's feedback- but as the accounts are 'associated' (anything at the same address or with the same family can be considered associated) you may well face restrictions on your account based on your wife's history.

This comes up quite a bit, it is to stop sellers who have gone a bit off the rails on one account merely opening a new one and using that. We often see (in fact we had one recently) where an account was restricted and there were suggestions about using someone elses in the same house. Ebay have got rather wise to that one- and so link them all.

****ing brilliant I have just rang ebay and they have informed me I have to wait 90 days before the restrictions get lifted....90 DAYS.....!!!!!!....
Its taken me 6 months hard work to get my account to where it is today and now they tell me that I cant sell anymore until DECEMBER
To say this is diabolical is an understatement..i feel like 6 months has been wasted ...started with nothing - I mean literally nothing, started ebay by doing surveys online and getting the money put into my paypal account....then i bought stuff with that money and resold until I could buy more items,my account was just starting to take off -and now after all my fees and buying stock for christmas have a massive profit of about £57 thanks for that ebay

As you are running a business account it might be an idea to phone ebay again as they often give preferential treatment to people running a business. You *are* running it as a business aren't you and are fully compliant with all the rules ebay impose.

I wouldn't worry about that, most people are incredibly and unnecessarily sarcastic on this board.
